SiLi-nano® is seeking scientific personnel for two research groups. Candidates should be ambitious students, PhD students or Post-doctoral associates; the successful and responsible candidates will have freedom to work on a variety of interesting topics.
The centre for innovation competence SiLi-nano® at the Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg is working on light conversion processes in silicon: “Silicon and Light: from macro to nano – SiLi-nano”. The topic of “optoelectronic reciprocity” is covered by two research groups – “Silicon-to-Light” and “Light-to-Silicon” – in close collaboration with the Institute of Physics of the Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg, the Max-Planck Institute for Microstructure Physics, the Fraunhofer Institute for Mechanics of Materials IWM and the Fraunhofer Center for Silicon Photovoltaics CSP.
SiLi-nano® is funded by the German Federal Minstry of Education and Research. The centre is largely independent and organized as an inter-institutional scientific facility under the auspices of the Martin-Luther-University of Halle-Wittenberg.
The position of the
Research Group Leader
for the research group Light-to-Silicon will be available from March 1st, 2012.
The group leader is expected to be an oustanding expert in the field of ultrafast laser spectroscopy and optical materials based on inorganic glasses. The scientific focus of the group „Light-to-Silicon“ lies in time-resolved spectroscopy on optical transitions in luminescent glasses and glass ceramics as well as on the optical non-linearities of glasses and similar materials. In addition, the use of ultrashort laser pulses for structuring of solar cells is to be investigated. A broad experience in both fields is necessary.
Candidates should have a PhD (preferably in Physics) and experience in leading a research group and in university teaching.
The funding from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research ends in July 2014. After a positive evaluation a tenure track position will be provided at the Fraunhofer Center for Silicon Photovoiltaics CSP in Halle.
