Silicon to Light

Daniel Pergande obtained his physics diploma from the University of Paderborn, Germany, in 2005. During this time he worked in the field of gas sensing with silicon based photonic crystals made of macroporous silicon. After his diploma he started his Phd studies in Paderborn.

In January 2007 he moved to the Martin-Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Germany, where he obtained his PhD in 2009. During his Phd studies he worked on the field of silicon photonics characterizing a novel SOI-based material system. Since October 2009 he is a scientific assistant at the ZIK SiLi-nano®, working on the characterization of devices for integrated optics in silicon photonics. In October 2010 he moved to the Heinrich-Hertz-Institute in Berlin.
